| Additional Information |
The missing item from my suitcase was taken after check in at Milan Malpensa Airport. As mentioned the suitcase was locked before checking in.
Upon returning back home in my home country in Singapore, I noticed that the lock was broken but I gave the benefit of the doubt that it was probably damaged during transit/transportation from Milan to Singapore during baggage transfer. Upon opening, I realised that the arrangement of items in my bag looks different from how I packed it previously as I had packed the items in a systematic manner (a pair of shoes and the red MFK perfume) was placed at the top just in case Customs wanted to inspect what i bought.
After unpacking further, I realised that the MFK perfume is missing. It was nowhere to be found in my luggage. I then realised that the bag definitely had been tampered with.
This is not a case of lost item but an incident of stolen item within the airport and likely by a staff from the airport as I believe all baggage and luggage will be monitored end to end from departure to arrival airport.
1) Did TSA open my suitcase to inspect my items? If yes, I understand that a note or slip of paper will indicate what has been taken. But I did not see any slip of paper in my suitcase after unpacking.
2) If TSA did not break open the lock, how did the lock break? And coincidentally an item was also missing from the suitcase.
Please investigate this incident seriously as it affects the reputation of the airport/airline as well as employee integrity is also at stake.
