Clark County to host largest surplus auction of the year
A plethora of items will be auctioned Nov. 23 during a government surplus auction hosted by Clark County.
The triannual event features items obtained by local police, and lost and found items from McCarran International Airport lost and found. Items range in variety, from vehicles and office equipment, to car parts and electronics.
Clark County spokeswoman Stacey Welling said this auction is typically the largest of the year because of the build-up of items during the summer months.
The auctions raised $6.9 million in 2018, with $4.4 million allocated toward Clark County agencies, including Clark County Public Works, Building and Fire Prevention, Real Property Management, University Medical Center, Clark County Fire and Air Quality. The events averages 2,000 bidders.
“Some of the money goes to Clark County’s general fund, such as proceeds from the sale of cars that were part of the county’s fleet,” Welling said. “Other proceeds go to departments that sold items.”
The auction will be at 8 a.m., Nov. 23, at 4320 Stephanie St., off Flamingo Road near Dog Fancier’s Park. Interested patrons must register as a bidder on site at the TNT Auction trailer, which will be set up on auction grounds from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 20-Nov. 22.
