Thousand of items go under the hammer at Perth Airport lost and found auction
From the weird to the wonderful, thousands of items left behind or confiscated at Perth Airport lost and found are going under the hammer.
More than 160 swiss army knives, dozens of boxes of tape, tools, skateboards, hundreds of lighters and even expensive kitchenware are for sale.
Dave Crofts from Ross’s Auctions, who have been selling the lost goods for a decade, says nothing is weird from Perth Airport anymore.
“We get a whole range, shells in this auction, skateboards, fishing rods, pool cues, lots of different things all the time.”
It’s not just the quirky up for grabs, there’s also watches, gold jewellery and expensive sunglasses and duty-free alcohol.
“Most expensive would be the jewellery or IT items, we’ve sold a Rolex watch previously, we’ve got some high value jewellery in this auction and some high value IT in this auction,” Mr Crofts said.Perth Airport lost property
Debra Blaskett from Perth Airport said it hosts the auctions up to six times a year if the items can’t be reunited with the owners.
“People have six weeks to claim their lost property, after that time if it’s not claimed it will go off to auction,” Ms Blaskett told 9News.
All bidding is online and there are no reserve prices.
All the profit goes to charity and since 2009 the airport has raised $290,000.
Bidding closes tomorrow night.
