Dublin Airport appeal for owners of lost photo from 1946
Dublin Airport lost and found have launched a heartfelt plea to find the owners of this photograph from 1946 which was left behind at Terminal One yesterday.
Story by Mary McDonnell, Dublin
The black and white photo shows two young children playing. They could not be aged more than seven.
The inscription on the back says they are David and Sandra pictured at Neville Road in Birmingham, 1946.
Airport spokesman, Paul O’Kane said lost items can usually be found through an online service but this one is special.
“This, we thought, is slightly different. Presumably if the person was carrying it in their hand luggage, it has significant personal value.
“If it dates from 1946, it’s most likely the only copy. It’s not like now. The fact there’s a bit of information on the back is a bit of a help – it gives us something to go by.
“We hope people take to it and help find the person behind the photo. There’s been a very strong reaction so far.”
An airport spokeswoman said no one has come forward yet to claim the sentimental photo but it has been shared thousands of times across social media.
News outlets in the UK have also shared the image in a bid to find the owner. Dublin Airport lost property
